Unders and Overs – Sidney Walter Centre

Please note that the route involves going straight down Ilex Way. If the conditions aren’t suitable, we’ll turn left out of Fernhurst Drive and go round on Goring Way. This will add a maximum of 500m and the rest of the route is unaffected.

The Gun Inn, Findon

  • Parking: It’s a bit tricky for parking round here, so definitely recommend getting there a bit early. Parking is free on the roads and there’s small car parks at Findon Village Hall (here) and School Hill (here). The Black Horse Inn also has a car park for customers.
  • Optional drink in The Black Horse Inn afterwards. (We contacted the Gun and apparently they’re full. The Black Horse is an 8-minute walk from the Gun.)

  • Parking: There is a large free car park. However, due to the fact that it’s a bit outside of Worthing, please consider offering lifts to other runners.

Options of routes: 10.4km, 8.5km and 5.7km. That’s 6.5 miles, 5.3 miles and 3.5 miles respectively in old money. If the weather is good in the days before, road shoes should be perfect.

Adur Avenue, Durrington
HILL REPS @ ADUR AVENUE, DURRINGTON

Brooklands, Lancing

[Leader] to lead. Two blocks of twelve minutes, with a short break in between. Increasingly long efforts on the way out, with increasingly long recoveries on the way back. Run to the first lamppost, and then jog back; run to the second lamppost, and jog back, etc. For the second round of 12, start off where you finish and get shorter each time (i.e. 5, then 4, etc.) and see if you can complete before the timer ends!

Fernhurst Drive, Goring
550m Reps @ Fernhurst Drive, Goring-By-Sea

[Leader] to lead a session of intervals around Fernhurst Drive. Starting from the corner of Fernhurst Drive and Bodium Avenue (outside the Bull pub), we’ll do lots of twelve minutes of 550m reps at high effort, following by an 80m walking recovery. Focus to be on running the 550m as hard as possible and “enjoying” a decent recovery, rather than running full loops at a mid-pace. For the second batch of twelve minutes, we’ll go clockwise instead of the first batch’s anti-clockwise.

The Gallops, Findon Valley

Nepcote Green

  • Parking: There’s a tiny car park here if you’re early, but otherwise there’s bit of residential parking a short walk away.
Princess Avenue
Intervals @ Princess Avenue

[Leader] to lead an interval session with laps of Princess Avenue (each lap is about 330m – three laps is 1km).

We’ll be doing 6 sets of 4 minutes, with a minute of static/walking recovery between each one, making the session exactly 29 minutes long.

Would recommend pacing it at about 5km pace, so…

  • Three laps would be 20-minute 5K pace
  • Two-and-a-half laps would be 25-minute 5K pace
  • Two laps would be 30-minute 5K pace
Sea Lane Cafe

[Leader] will be leading a session of speedy intervals around Singleton Crescent. Each lap is just under a kilometre, something like 900m ish.

Windlesham House School

  • Parking: There is plenty of free parking available in the school. This is a pain to get to by public transport though, so please offer to carshare.
