Founded in 1984, Goring Road Runners having been running the streets and countryside of Worthing for 40 years. After a merge and rebranding in 2023, Worthing Gazelles is a popular road and trail running club, catering to a mixed range of ages, abilities and backgrounds.
Our core aims are to be member-led, social and transparent, with a real emphasis on honesty and humour. And, yes, getting better at running too.
Our ideas
- At least once a week, organise an evening run that ends in a pub car park. For all those that want to, we can pop in and enjoy a drink together. It’s a great way to introduce new members and guests to the club, as well as just having a general chinwag!
- Specific training sessions that incorporate people’s goals: Running technique? Strength and Conditioning? Sunday Marathon Club?
- Emphasis on Mental Health and importance of having the opportunities to discuss and share experiences
- An annual Beer Mile race, with a small entry fee going to charity
- A Christmas run to a Food Bank to give back to our local communities
- A Couch to 5K programme for newer runners
- Group trips to local parkruns every now and then (monthly?)
- Annual published financial accounts and issues put to votes across the membership
